Client data sync is the process of moving information collected in PreciseFP into the systems a firm already relies on, like its CRM or financial planning software, without you retyping it. Firms that skip this step end up with the same client details entered twice, once in the fact finder and once in the CRM, with room for typos between the two. PreciseFP handles this through integrations that export and import data on demand rather than automatically merging every field in the background.
How Data Sync Actually Works
Sync in PreciseFP runs in two directions. Import brings existing client records from a connected CRM into PreciseFP, which is how you pre-fill a fact finder instead of starting blank. Export sends data the client entered back out to the CRM or planning tool once the engagement is complete.
Each integration has its own matching rules. With Wealthbox, for example, a contact only appears in the import or export search if it’s marked Head of Household with a Household Name on file, has a Primary email address, is listed as Active and has both a first and last name entered. A record missing any one of these won’t show up in the search, even if it’s otherwise a complete client file. On export, you choose whether to create a new contact in the connected system or match the data to an existing one, so records don’t get duplicated on the other end.
Sync isn’t fully automatic in the sense of running on a schedule in the background. Most integrations run on a single button inside PreciseFP: you select the record, choose import or export and the fields map over based on how the integration was configured. If your firm uses a less common system, you can set up advanced field mapping so specific PreciseFP fields land in the matching CRM fields rather than a generic catch-all.
Not every field maps one to one. Employment information is a common example: PreciseFP allows multiple employment entries per contact, but some CRMs only store one, so only the most recent entry carries over on export. Knowing this ahead of time means you can check the destination record rather than assume everything transferred.
PreciseFP Value: How We Support Client Data Sync
PreciseFP’s sync tools cut down the manual re-entry that happens when a firm runs a CRM and a data-gathering tool side by side.
With PreciseFP, you can:
- Sync in both directions: Import existing CRM records to pre-fill forms, then export completed data back out
- Rely on matching rules per integration: Use filters like Wealthbox’s Head of Household, Active status and Primary email requirements to keep incomplete records out of the search
- Control export matching: Choose to create a new contact or sync with an existing record during export
- Run sync in one click: Move data through most integrations from a single button rather than a manual file
- Map advanced fields: Send specific PreciseFP fields to the matching fields in less common CRMs
- Import in bulk: Bring in up to 100 client or prospect accounts at once instead of one at a time

FAQs About Client Data Sync in PreciseFP
Does PreciseFP automatically sync data with my CRM in the background?
PreciseFP does not sync continuously in the background; most integrations run when you choose to import or export a specific record. This gives you control over when data moves rather than having changes pushed automatically.
What happens if a CRM field doesn’t match a PreciseFP field?
Fields that don’t map directly, such as employment history entries beyond what the CRM supports, may only carry over partially on export. Check the destination record after export if your firm uses fields with different limits between the two systems.
Can I bring existing client records into PreciseFP instead of re-entering them?
Yes, you can import existing records from a connected CRM, including in bulk for up to 100 accounts at a time. This is commonly used to pre-fill a fact finder with data the firm already has.
Which systems does PreciseFP sync with?
PreciseFP connects to CRMs including Wealthbox, Redtail and Salesforce, along with financial planning tools such as eMoney, RightCapital and MoneyGuidePro. The specific fields and matching rules vary by integration.
