Setting Up a Client Engagement in PreciseFP

How to Build and Send a Client Engagement in PreciseFP

An engagement is what PreciseFP calls the process of sending a specific form, whether a fact finder, service agreement or review, to a client or prospect. Setting one up correctly means the right template reaches the right account with the right data already filled in, rather than you building the same setup from scratch every time. This is typically one of the first things new staff learn, since almost everything else in PreciseFP happens through an engagement.

Building and Sending an Engagement

Setting up an engagement starts with an account, the record that holds a client or prospect’s household data. If the account doesn’t exist yet, you create it first, entering the primary client’s details and adding a co-client if there’s a spouse or partner involved. If your firm has a CRM integration enabled, you can import the account directly instead of entering it manually.

With the account in place, you choose a template from the forms library, which includes service-based templates for things like estate planning or college planning, versions optimized for the firm’s specific CRM or planning software integration, and general-purpose templates like the Dynamic Fact Finder or Custodial Onboarding that aren’t tied to any one service or system. Templates can be used as they are or customized, and you can also upload your own PDF, Word or Excel form to convert into a digital template if the library doesn’t already have what you need.

Before sending, you can pre-fill the engagement with data already on file, whether that’s from a previous submission or imported from the CRM, so the client sees existing information rather than a blank form. You can also adjust notification settings for the engagement at this point, controlling whether you’re alerted when the client opens or completes it.

Once sent, the engagement is delivered to the client as a secure link by email. From there, setup shifts into monitoring: the engagement appears on the dashboard as not started, in progress or completed, and you can resend the link, reopen a closed engagement or move the account to its next pipeline stage once the engagement is submitted.

PreciseFP Value: How We Simplify Engagement Setup

PreciseFP structures engagement setup around existing accounts and templates instead of building each form and send from scratch.

With PreciseFP, you can:

  • Start from the account: Attach an engagement to an existing account or create one on the spot
  • Work from a template library: Choose from pre-built forms or convert an existing PDF, Word or Excel document into a template
  • Pre-fill from prior data: Populate known fields before the client ever opens the form
  • Configure notifications: Control who’s alerted when the engagement is opened or completed
  • Deliver a secure link: Send the engagement without email attachments or printed paperwork
  • Connect to your pipeline: Trigger automatic account stage changes when an engagement is completed
